Things to do along the MRT Pink Line


With the recent opening of the MRT Pink Line to the public, excitement surged among numerous Bangkok dwellers, leading them to flock for a ride on its inaugural day. Once we learned about its opening, we were urged to find out what cool places or things were around the stations on this line. And guess what? We found some neat spots we’d love to share with you.

If you haven’t explored this new MRT Pink line yet, we’ve got a list of 9 places you can go and things to explore on the MRT Pink Line.


1. Relax at Makut Rommayasaran Park

Whether it’s after work or at the weekend, going to a park is a relaxing thing anybody can enjoy. They play a multifaceted role in enhancing the physical, mental, social, and environmental aspects of communities.

Makut Rommayasaran Park is a big beautiful park that’s located just a 3-minute walk from The Nonthaburi Civic Center station. It has a pond, canals, many types of beautiful flowers, and a playground. If you feel like you want to spend some me time amidst greenery, definitely check out this park.

2. Attend big concerts at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani

Known as an event venue, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani is the hub of entertainment, hosting a diverse range of events, such as international trade shows, conventions, conferences, concerts, sporting events, and entertainment shows. If you are a fan of concerts or football matches, you’ll find yourself visiting this venue a lot of times.

Other than special events, you can just go there and explore shopping malls, and restaurants, or even enjoy a bit of exercise at the gym in Novotel Bangkok Impact.

3. Tour Wat Phra Sri Mahathat

Built in 1940, Wat Phra Sri Mahathat is a sanctuary near the Wat Phra Sri Mahathat MRT station, where you can visit if you need to seek solace for your mind or desire to make offerings. The first thing that’ll capture your attention once you get here is a big white pagoda enclosed by palm trees in the middle. Inside, you’ll find chapels and pavilions where plentiful Buddha images are placed for visitors to pay homage to. If you have a liking for Thai temples, you find it joyful to take a walk around and see things here in this complex.

Not only you can get here by the new MRT Pink Line but you can take the BTS here as well.

4. Explore cute animals at Peuan Deratchan Zoo

Animal lovers will find joy at Peuan Deratchan Zoo. Although it’s not a big zoo like Safari World, it has cute animals for you to see, ranging from parrots and gibbons to alligators.

The zoo was established to provide habitats and care for sick or abandoned animals. As it is not a large zoo, it mainly accommodates small animals.

Another good thing here, apart from seeing animals, is that it’s free of charge.

To reach this place, you’ll need to take a taxi after getting off at the station, as it’s situated a bit far from there.

5. Watch Muay Thai matches at Lumpinee Stadium

When it comes to sports, of course, Muay Thai is undeniably widely well-known around the world, and a lot of foreigners are keen on watching this Thai sport. If you’re one of them, don’t miss the chance to come to Lumphinee Stadium — a famous Thai boxing stadium in Bangkok. We have ONE Lumpinee which is a Muay Thai tournament taking place every Friday night. Tickets start from ฿1,000 (~USD28.41). Find out more info on Thaiticketmajor.

The stadium sits between the Ram Inthra 3 station and the Lat Pla Kao station, so you need to hail a taxi to reach here.

6. Go shopping at Liab Duan Ram Intra Market

Feeling hungry but don’t know what to eat? Go ahead and take yourself to Liab Duan Ram Intra Market. You’ll find a multitude of street food options that’ll make you drool. If you want to shop for cheap secondhand clothes or accessories, this place will satisfy your needs.

Plus, there’s an amusement zone where you can embark on a Ferris wheel, ride on a carousel, and participate in a shoot-out game.

Note that the market is a night market which is open at 5pm, but you can come after 6pm to enjoy the vibrant ambience once the market is fully set up.

7. Eat, shop & stroll at Fashion Island Mall

If you prefer a contemporary air-conditioned complex, get off at the Outer Ring Road – Ram Inthra station and walk straight to Fashion Island. It is a pleasant large shopping centre with everything you ever need, be it fashionable clothes, household items, or a theatre. It can take you the whole day to visit every corner of this mall. With Christmas coming soon, we think it’s a good idea to go and take a peek at how the mall is prepared for the celebration.

The most photogenic spot in the mall is its Grand Station zone. which resembles a large train station in Europe. You’ll find many attractive eateries as well as shops to explore in this area.

8. Have a great time at Siam Amazing Park

One of the best ways to deal with stress and overwhelmed feelings from work is by taking a weekend trip to an amusement park. Situated near the Bang Chan station, Siam Amazing Park boasts five adventure zones, with each featuring diverse enjoyable rides. Two of the zones we find interesting are an aquatic zone with a 7-story-rainbow slide and an Xtreme zone with a tall thrilling roller coaster to get your adrenaline pumping.

Disembarking at the station, you have to catch a taxi to make your way to the amusement park.

9. Shop, feed animals & ride a boat at Kwan-Riam Floating Market

Kwan-Riam Floating Market is a Bangkok floating market that you shouldn’t miss once you come to the city. It is located on the bank of the Klong Saen Saeb canal, close to two ancient temples. If you visit the market in the morning, you will see people making offerings to monks on the boat on the canal.

Here, you can explore a wide range of various Thai food cuisines and visit mini zoos where you can see cute animals such as swans, tortoises, alpacas, and goats. One thing you can’t miss doing is riding a row boat along the canal, experiencing the vibes of the place.
