Thailand’s not too big on Christmas outside of mall decorations and end-of-year shopping sprees. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get one of the best Christmas experiences.

Here are our picks of Christmas dinners and events in Bangkok this Christmas 2023 , from fancy hotel dinners with all the works for those who miss home, as well as small hidden gems with a Thai twist to liven up your Christmas holiday.

Snowy Christmas Markets are a German tradition that gets people to mingle despite the cold weather. While there’s definitely no snow, or any semblance of cold weather for that matter, when it comes to food, Bangkok is sure to not disappoint.

Expect the juiciest of German sausages and sauerkraut, as well as various handmade gifts and music at the Goethe-Institut from 9-10 December 2023.

While most of this list comprises fancy or European-style offerings, Ground Phlox’s Christmas Market is a fairly lowkey fair out in the suburbs.

You can find 25 arts and crafts shops that will have great handmade gifts just in time for Christmas as well as a nice outdoor, camping-style chocolate cafe. It’s pet-friendly too.

Another lowkey pick is this little hidden garden cafe in Ari that will be hosting a small jazz concert.

How about a classic music concert to get you in the mood for festivities? You could put on Tchaikovsky on Spotify, but nothing beats listening to the real thing live.

If you’re looking for something romantic, then you can’t go wrong with a Japanese twist to Christmas. Christmas in Japan is a little different because it has slight romantic undertones which isn’t common elsewhere, along with their tradition for KFC.

Which means that Christmas Eve dinner at Okura Prestige, specifically their Up & Above Restaurant and Bar, sets just the right tone and vibe for a date.

It’s a bit pricey at ฿4,000++ per person, but you’re getting a great buffet as well as high rise outdoor seats to enjoy the cool winter evening. You can book a table here

6.) Christmas Eve turkey dinner at the Londoner

If their name hasn’t given it away, the Londoner is an English-style pub that is as authentic as it gets. Their Sunday roast is pretty famous, so we’re expecting their Christmas and Christmas Eve offerings to be as good.

Turkey, gravy, mince pies, and Christmas pudding are to be expected for just under ฿2,000. You can learn more about the offerings here

They have a huge selection that includes the Christmas classics like roasted turkey, Christmas Stollen, and Bûche de Noël which can be hard to find in Thailand.

Their non-alcoholic buffet is ฿2,500++ per person. For bookings, check their website here
