Things to do in Bangkok in April 2024


April is all about Songkran. Practically the entire country shuts down to splash water and celebrate the Thai New Year. But there’s also plenty to do outside of the quintessential Thai holiday as well.

Here’s all you need to know about what there is to do in Bangkok in April 2024.


Is April a good month to visit Bangkok?


In one simple word: Yes! April is the month of Songkran, and the holiday is a microcosm of all things Thai culture.

You’ll get to experience the fun-loving side of Thai culture with all the water fights, but Songkran is also a time for family and making merit.

Of course, there’s plenty to do outside of Songkran as well.


1. THAI COMICS ART 2024 – exhibit celebrating Thai comic artists

This exhibit features comic art from old Thai legends that drew many comics that we read during our youth.

2. SEE U Fest by BBA CU – pop-up market by Chulalongkorn University students

This pop-up market is run by Chulalongkorn University’s BBA students. Expect live music, tons of food, and plenty of interesting things to buy.

3. Thailand Toy Expo 2024 – new, exclusive, & limited edition toys

This expo is a collector’s paradise filled with plenty of toys that can’t be found anywhere else.

4. Celebrity Market Fest – pop-up market in Chula featuring celebrity foodies

This is another pop-up market from Chulalongkorn University, but this time it’s featuring food from famous Thai celebrities.

5. a bit of thai tunes – pushing the boundaries of Thai music

This exhibit at Museum Siam aims to push the definitions of Thai music through live coding music and projection mapping.

6. Pet Market by Mha Tid Tiew – all things pet plus free health checks from Utmost Pet Hospital

This market is for pet owners looking to pamper their pets. The market will also offer free health check-ups from Utmost Pet Hospital.

7. hololive Meet Fan Meeting – see your oshis Calli and Kiara live & play games with them

9. YEAH! MARKET – Summer Style: flea market filled with summer-themed products

This popular flea market organizer is setting up yet another market. This time it’ll be a post-Songkran market at The Circle Ratchaphruek.

10. Celebrating Songkran in Bangkok

This one needs no introduction. The entirety of downtown Bangkok will be celebrating Songkran. For spots that’ll truly be a sight to behold, make sure you make stops in the Siam area, Silom, and Khao San Road.
