Gaysorn Amarin: An Old Historic Mall Transformed

In one of the corners of the Ratchaprasong intersection sits one of Thailand’s oldest malls: Gaysorn Amarin. Previously known as Amarin Plaza, the mall has been remodelled into luxury.

Here’s why it’s a great alternative for mall dates in summer.

Also known as Gaysorn Village, the luxury mall has tons of options for things to do, but you’re probably here for its unique dining and lounging options.

First, it’s a great spot with many unique restaurants and cafes, including Le Café Louis Vuitton – one of the trendiest cafes in Thailand this year so far. It’s so popular that there’s almost certainly a queue for walk-ins and online reservations (available here) are booked at least two months in advance!

It’ll also soon be home to the famous Copper Beyond Buffet that’ll open some time in March.

They also have Mickey’s Diner, an American-style diner with all the comfort food like fried chicken, pancakes, and shakes.

But if you’re a vegan, there’s Plantiful that’s quickly becoming a local favourite.

And if you’re finding yourself light on cash due to all the shopping, their food court The Cook has tons of classic Thai street food choices for prices barely cracking ฿100.

Secondly, there are also beauty and wellness services available. So whether you need a makeover or to get in shape, there are high quality options available here right in the middle of the city.

Finally, there are plenty of luxury brands here. We’ve already mentioned Louis Vuitton, but there are also unique options here like ski fashion icon The Edition.

What is the history of Gaysorn Amarin?

Despite its grand look now, Amarin Plaza had a much different look prior to its recent renovation. Opening in 1985, the mall became a popular hangout spot due to its prime location. Its iconic Roman facade was a hit with our parents when they were younger. That’s not even mentioning that this mall was home to the first ever McDonald’s to ever open in Thailand.

But over time, it lost its popularity and became rundown. That’s when it was bought by Gaysorn Group, who renovated the mall from 2022-2024 and connected it to their nearby office spaces.

With the addition of popular attractions like Louis Vuitton’s cafe and Copper Beyond Buffet, this historic mall has had new life breathed into it, giving it a second life.

How do I get to Gaysorn Amarin?

The most convenient way to get to this mall is to use the BTS and get off at Chit Lom station. From there, the mall is simply a couple of minutes away on foot.
