Wonderlights Spectacular in Bangkok

With all the malls in Bangkok displaying their Christmas celebrations everywhere, you may want to try something a bit different. One of Bangkok’s most popular walking streets, Siam Square, will play host to a month-long Christmas event called Wonderlights Spectacular. It will be packed with magic shows, music, and cosplay.

So for those looking to get away from a typical Bangkok mall Christmas, here’s how to celebrate on the hot streets.

Starting on 9th December, the Property Management of Chulalongkorn University is organizing events in Siam Square and Suanluang Samyan every weekend for the entire month.

The first weekend, which will last from 9th-11th December, features the Siam Magic Show. So be prepared for some Christmas magic, but just not the kind that’ll leave you gifts under the tree.

You can catch performances from world-class Thai magicians as well as enjoy music from local high school bands.

Siam Music Fest 2022

The following weekend, from 16th-18th December, promises to be an even livelier one. With performances in 5 stages throughout the square, you’ll be rocking so hard you might have to shop for some new socks.

You can catch performances from rising indie stars like MIRRR and Phum Viphurit, as well as local household names like MILLI, The Toys, or Nont Tanont.

So make sure you check the full schedule and pencil down where and when you need to be from the 16th-18th here.

Cosplay spaces

You won’t just see Santa costumes on Christmas weekend in Siam Square. The walking street will be open for cosplayers to come show off their skills.

If you’re interested in picking up cosplay, there will be a cosplay market on the 9th floor of SIAMSCAPE.

For cosplayers who worry about carrying around their supplies, Siam Square will set up a Cosplayer Support Station that will help participants store their supplies as well as repair any costumes.

So Santa might dress a little differently this Christmas.

A wonderful walk on Bangkok’s Christmas streets

Many see Siam as the hangout spot for young Thais and it’s not hard to see why. Surrounded by schools and universities, the area quickly gets packed with students as the sun sets. So if you’re looking for a Christmas filled with young energy and fun, Siam Square might be the one for you. Just hop off the BTS at Siam and go through Exit 4.

To top it off, they’re promising snow in Siam from 30th December to 1st January for all those who want to take a photo of snow in 30-degree Celsius heat.
