Amidst the mountains and forests that surround the city of Lampang, there’s a small temple hidden on a mountain along with white pagodas sited on top, making it a place worth-visiting.

Generally, Wat Phrabat Pu Pha Daeng is regarded as an important sanctuary of Lampang as the temple is where many locals come to pay respects to the Buddha’s footprint.

The temple’s pagodas are located on the mountain tops, which is a pretty rare sight if you’re not a native.

However, don’t expect an easy trek to reach the topmost area of the temple, as you’ll literally have to hike up hundreds of steps to get there. But don’t let this change your mind. If you see it as a fun challenge, perhaps it wouldn’t be as exhausting as you’d think, and you’ll get to enjoy the greenery around you on the way up.

Once you find yourself at the top, you’ll need to climb up another small staircase to take yourself up to see the golden pagoda shown in the pic above up close. While you’re at it, take some time to bask in the stunning panoramic views of the mountain ranges and green fields before you. If you look around, you’ll also spot some other white pagodas crowning other surrounding peaks.

We’re def curious about how they were built up there too.

Here’s another pic of the sweeping view of endless green fields and lush mountains that you will see after reaching the top. Hopefully, you won’t get so hooked on enjoying the view that you forget to grab a camera and capture the sights for posterity.

Pay your respects to Buddha statues in a pavilion

Across the golden pagoda sits an old wooden pavilion on a mountain top. You might notice a crowd of people filling up the pavilion and wonder what it is. Basically, it’s a spot where Thai Buddhists usually flock to pay their respects to Buddha statues and say their prayers.

Do note that if you plan on coming to this pavilion, you can’t avoid climbing through small rocks.

This might sound daunting again, but don’t worry; we’re sure you’ll be fine. After you make your way to the pavilion, there are both big and small Buddha statues placed in the middle that you can pay your respects to. For more context, this pavilion is called ‘ศาลาสวดมนต์’ in Thai or ‘Prayer Pavilion’ as it is a place where monks will visit to pray on the 8th day of waning moon.
