A beach holiday in Phuket may be on the cards, but we’re sure you’d be interested in other activities beyond spending time at the crowded Patong Beach. Enter Andamanda Phuket, a massive water park in Kathu, Phuket that boasts more than 25 rides and 12 slides. Once you’re inside, we bet you might have a hard time choosing what to try first.

Unlike other typical water parks, Andamanda Phuket is home to larger-than-life homages to Thai culture, with XXL mythical creatures decked in vivid colours within some areas, or its bright yellow and blue traditional Thai entrance at the water park.

Once you go through the entrance, you’ll see this iconic statue – think a conch-encrusted, 3-headed dragon to selfie with real quick. Before getting to any of the attractions as well, you’ll notice the expansive greenery that surrounds the water park, which definitely adds to the beachside mood and Phuket vibes.

Those who’re returnees to Phuket would definitely have heard of James Bond Island – an iconic landmark in Phang Nga. Don’t be too surprised if you spy a duplicate rock feature from Phang Nga’s iconic island in this water park. Beyond its actual size and scale, it looks nearly identical to the real one. We’ll give a major round of props to whoever created this replica for their good work.

Lazy River: longest double slides in Thailand

When it comes to the rides, we hear that this particular water park has the longest double slides in Thailand – and even in Asia – extending for a whopping 550 metres, and ending in a massive splash into the main pool area. As soon as we heard this, we couldn’t wait to go try it for ourselves – both mega slides, to be exact.

Wave Pool: surf like a boss on 3-metre waves

Those who find slides a tad too unchallenging, will find this next option a step up in terms adrenaline rushes. Passionate surfers, we’d dare say this’ll be your favourite spot in the entire park. Wave Pool is an artificial surfing beach that can generate waves up to three metres high. If surfing is your hobby, or something you’d like to try in a safer, more controlled environment, give this core attraction a shot. Take it as practice for big-wave beaches elsewhere in the world.

Kid Zone: coral playground for kiddos to explore

Admit it – whether you’re a kid or not – this colourful, expansive Kid Zone makes you wanna go up there and slide down somehow. Designed in mostly blue, the coral and shell-studded zone offers many slides in different colours, as well as obstacle courses for the kiddos to clamber over. Of course, though it’s a designated kid area, we’re sure no one will turn anyone who’s a child at heart away.

The Village: floating market & food court with international & local cuisine

Having spent the whole day playing on all the rides and slides, you’ll undoubtedly run out of energy. Before you head back to your hotel, don’t forget to explore the food to fill your bellies at this “floating market” within the water park.

Get your energy back at The Village, a well-designed food court – themed after Thailand’s iconic floating markets – that offers guests a variety of food options, including both international and local cuisines.

We’d recommend this water park to anyone who’s looking for a place to enjoy outdoor activities but is bored with typical beaches and islands in Phuket. Themed slides and playground aside, it’s a controlled water environment with lifeguards on duty to ensure that you’ll get to have your fun in the water, while staying safe.
