On 31st October 2022, Facebook user Psi Scott posted a set of pictures of himself swimming in the middle of an ocean. The post included a photo of a map showing that he had swum for around 30 kilometres from Ao Nang beach to Ko Poda and back again. Afterwards, his post was widely shared all over social media by netizens. Most of them praised his incredible strength and stamina, as it would usually be exhausting to swim that long distance, according to Thairath.

The swimmer was later revealed to be Siranat Scott – a man who has been passionate about swimming since he was a kid. Scott said the reason behind this ambitious journey was to break his old record last year. In 2021, he swam to Ko Poda once but didn’t swim back. This time, he wanted to challenge himself again by swimming to – and back from – the island.
Ecstatic about achieving what he had set out to do, the conservationist declared that he loved the sea and marine life, and had participated in conserving marine life along with locals in Phuket for the past 3 years. According to him, he would participate in dives to collect garbage and fishing net remains under the sea. His friends called him “Merman” as a result, an endearing nickname that he treasures.
Netizens are surprised by his strength & stamina
After the post went viral, many netizens flocked to leave comments about his strength. Some even joked that Scott was Aquaman.

Wish we could swim like this man
Apart from his ability to swim long distances, we honestly respect Scott for his efforts in preserving sea life. It’s also hard to find people who’re as passionate as him about marine life nowadays.
As we already know, Thailand’s seas and beaches are major tourist attractions for people around the world due to their natural beauty. His ambitious swimming route has brought attention to causes that matter and we hope that more join him in supporting the conservation of marine life in this country.
Finally, we hope to encourage him to keep up the good work in his field of interest. He certainly deserves more recognition as a kind-hearted man who cares about Mother Earth.
