With so many great dishes, it’s hard to call any Thai food underrated or overlooked. With that said, rat na has been outshined by other more iconic Thai dishes for too long.

What makes Rat Na Yot Phak 40 Years special is, as the name suggests, that they have been around for over 40 years. They were even awarded the Bib Gourmand in 2019 and 2020.
This street food stall doesn’t serve a huge variety of dishes, but the few they do serve are done very well. It’s like that Bruce Lee quote: “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”

The two main dishes you’ll want to get here are the rat na and pad see ew. You’ll have four choices of noodles: wide noodles, rice vermicelli, crispy egg noodles, and crispy rice noodles. You’ll also get a choice of three different meats: overnight marinated pork, shrimp, and octopus.
Whatever you pick, you’re sure to end up with a delicious and smoky plate of noodles.

The shop sits in an area with a lot of Bangkok’s most prominent religious sites. This makes it the perfect pit stop for when you need a break from exploring all of them.
The Sao Chingcha sub-district is home to the Giant Swing, a Brahmin site that gave the sub-district its name. It is also home to San Chaopho Suea, also called the Tiger God Shrine, which our rat na shop sits next to.
