Moderna Covid-19 vaccines in Thailand to cost ฿3,400
Earlier this month, Thailand began its mass vaccination drive using two inoculations: Coronavac by Sinovac Biotech and AstraZeneca produced by Siam Bioscience.
Recently, the government has also mentioned plans to utilise other vaccines like those produced by Pfizer-BioNTech, Johnson & Johnson and Moderna.
Moderna vaccines are due to arrive in Thailand in October 2021, and hospitals have set the price at ฿3,400 (~USD122) for two doses.

Hospitals in Thailand set price for the Moderna vaccine
The price for two doses for the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine will be ฿3,400 (~USD122) as set by the Private Hospital Association in Thailand on 29th June 2021, reported Bangkok Post. The cost includes service charges and insurance in addition to the vaccine itself.
The first batch of Moderna Covid-19 vaccines is estimated to arrive in Thailand this October.
In recent months, private hospitals, including Thonburi Healthcare Group, have been offering Thai residents the chance to pre-order a Moderna vaccine. Thonburi Healthcare Group is currently in the process of ordering 15 million doses.
Residents can start making appointments and pre-payments for the Moderna vaccine starting July 1st at participating hospitals.
AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines to arrive in July from Japan
In addition to the projected arrival of Moderna vaccines in October, Thailand is also expecting 1.05 million doses of Astra Zeneca Covid-19 vaccines from Japan in July.
The Public Health Ministry announced on 29th June 2021 that Japan has agreed to provide AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines to Thailand free of charge. Thailand will only be responsible for transport costs, which are estimated to be around ฿3,000,000 (~USD94,000) – ฿30,000,000 (~USD936,000).
Per the agreement, Thailand is to report the use of AstraZeneca vaccines upon request from Japan.
Japan has opted to ship their AstraZeneca vaccines to foreign countries as part of the United Nations backed COVAX sharing programme, as well as through bilaterally negotiated agreements.
The nation does not intend to use their stock of AstraZeneca vaccines due to reports of blood clots, according to Bangkok Post.
Vaccination programme moves along in Thailand
Vaccine developments seem to be popping up as quickly as new Covid-19 safety measures. With the government seeking to increase the availability of Covid-19 vaccines, it also seems like the country may be moving closer towards a “New Normal”.
We’re optimistic that between the regulations, inoculations and cooperation from Thai residents that the situation will improve soon.
