Khao Kheow Open Zoo lets you camp under the stars at the night zoo

If you love animals, enjoy cool air, and love camping, then look no further. Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi just announced that they’ll be open for camping for the entire month of December.

Here’s what the open zoo is offering for its night camp and how you can get there.

Camp out to see the stars

Throughout December 2022, Khao Kheow Open Zoo is opening up its grounds at night for visitors to camp out and enjoy the stars.

With Thailand’s cold season rapidly approaching, now is the perfect time to switch from visiting Thailand’s famous islands and beaches to visiting our mountains and forests instead. Enjoy the nice cool air away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities, and see the stars in the way you can never see with all the light pollution.

Bring your own tent and camping equipment for an outdoor adventure. They’ll have a bathroom for showering so you won’t have to worry about smelling bad the next day. With staff in place, it’s perfect for camping beginners to try out what camping feels like without many of the risks.

They’ll even set up an outdoor theatre so you can experience a real vintage “drive-in” theatre that is so rare nowadays.

Free visit to the night zoo

Best of all, there is also a free visit to the night zoo included if you decide to camp out at Khao Kheow Open Zoo.

With all the demand for the camping experience, the zoo also placed some ground rules for visitors so that everyone can enjoy a peaceful camping experience.

Ground rules for the camp

First, the zoo requests that you bring in your own camping equipment. So be sure to bring your tent and any cooking equipment if you want to enjoy some outdoor cooking.

There will be a charging station for your electronics available. Food and drinks will also available on sale near the camping grounds.

As for the don’ts, the zoo requests that visitors don’t start a fire to cook , but outdoor stoves are totally fine. No pets are allowed either, as these will disturb both the other guests and animals at the zoo. Finally, they request that visitors quiet down around 11PM for the benefit of other guests.
