Fisherman survives sinking boat for 6 hours
The sight of boats sinking in the middle of the ocean is definitely alarming as it could be deadly for passengers who don’t know how to swim. Even if you do, there could be weather factors making it difficult to survive. That’s why some people are still pretty worried when it comes to travelling by sea.
Sometimes, however, miracles do happen. Miracles like how this fisherman in Krabi reportedly survived a sinking boat while fishing off the coast at Koh Lao Hang Island by lying in the refrigerator and floating for 6 hours until someone came by and helped him up.

A refrigerator saves a fisherman’s life

On 25th October 2022, a fisherman in Krabi reportedly survived a sinking boat by curling up within in a fridge and floating for 6 hours, before a passing boat rescued him, according to Thaiger.
The fisherman, Anat, stated that his boat was hit by a big wave which caused the boat to be filled with water, and subsequently began sinking. He then realised that he had an old refrigerator on the boat. That’s when it occurred to him to try something to keep him alive. He got himself into the fridge, which thankfully could float on the water, and waited patiently for someone to come and rescue him.
Anat was allegedly floating in the fridge for 6 hours until another local fisherman passed by and helped him into his boat to take him back to the shore safely.
It was also reported that the village’s chief along with his friends and family helped donate some money to get a new boat for Anat.

We’re thankful to the refrigerator for saving this fisherman’s life
We were relieved to know that the fisherman was rescued and taken back to the shore safely. Nonetheless, the way he managed to survive in the fridge for 6 hours was indeed surprising; thanks to the fridge and the passing fisherman who helped him. We hope that similar accidents like this won’t happen to any other fishermen or anyone travelling by sea as we can imagine how scary it would be in the situation.
Moreover, the fact that people in the village chipped in to get him a new boat is really heartwarming, and it proves that how generous people in our society are.
