Chinese New Year in Bangkok’s Chinatown


Chinese New Year is celebrated by many Chinese-Thai people in many major cities in Thailand.

Yaowarat or Bangkok’s Chinatown is is the historical center of the Chinese-Thai community that is decorated with lights and Chinese lanterns to celebrate Chinese New Year and welcome Chinese tourists.

On 17 January 2023, It was reported that Yaowarat – Bangkok’s Chinatown – will be decorated with a 45-metre light tunnel and Chinese lanterns, and visitors can visit to admire the festive decorations at The Chinatown Gate from 14th January to 15th February 2023, according to Thairath.

Besides light decorations, there are also exhibitions of Chinese-style attractions, the history of Chinese New Year celebrations in Thailand, and Chinese horoscope-based fortune-telling.


Getting to Yaowarat in Bangkok
