Alcove Cafe, Udom Suk: Work-Friendly Coffee Spot That’s Also A Nail & Lash Salon

Alcove Cafe, Udom Suk

Even though Udom Suk in the east of Bangkok is gentrifying, with new condos popping up amidst decades-old apartments, we like that it’s still slower-paced and less touristy than downtown proper for now.

If you’re visiting the area and need a change from the market and street stalls to work or take a call from, visit brand-new Alcove Cafe for fresh brews, power outlets, and air-conditioned seating. Plus, you can get your nails and lashes done on the second floor to prep for your next big event.

New cafe in a laid-back neighbourhood

Seating just 10-15 people indoors, Alcove Cafe is a quiet, air-conditioned cafe in an older shophouse typical of residential Bangkok streets.

With a nod to Japandi design, its interior has different kinds of seating – so if you’re working on a laptop or catching up with a friend, you’ll find the right spot for your visit.

We imagine the windowside table nook is ideal for mobile workers to get some work done and take occasional people-watching breaks.

Pastries here start at ฿70 (~USD2.14). We had an apple and raisin puff that was sweet and fluffy, and a cappuccino that balanced the taste of fresh beans and milk to perk us up.

The brownie, though small, was dense and packed with flavour, making for a cronchy bite.

Drinks from coffee to matcha lattes to fruit drinks here range from ฿50-฿79 (~USD1.52-USD3.18), and gel manicures start at ฿250 (~USD10.08).

You can book a nail and lash appointment at +66 64 4232265 to prep for parties or social events at the second-floor beauty parlour too.

A new Udom Suk cafe to check out

The cafe’s about 10 minutes’ walk from Udom Suk BTS station. When you exit from the ticket gates, turn left, walk down a flight of stairs, and walk straight down the road once you see a Lawson and One Udomsuk mall on your left.

Alcove Cafe is so new that it doesn’t even have a Facebook or Instagram page yet, but we’re sure more people will start coming down once they begin their social media game. In the meantime, drop by for a chill afternoon away from the Bangkok heat next time you’re in the area.
