April marks the beginning of summer heat in Thailand. With the heat reaching unbearable levels, here are some activities that will help you relax at the end of our long days.

1. Surawongse Festival: Relaxing rooftop food festival

If you’re looking for an upscale, outdoor food festival, pay a visit to Marriot’s The Surawongse at the beginning of April. 

The hotel will be organizing its annual Surawongse Festival on a small grass terrace on its third floor. The festival is free to enter and will feature the 5-star hotel’s entire food team.

In addition to the hotel’s food, the festival will also feature food cooked by some of Thailand’s most famous chefs including Chef Ton of 1-Michelin star restaurant Le Du and Chef Namfon who made it to the Top 10 of MasterChef Thailand. 

The festival is sure to have a relaxing rooftop vibe that is perfect for setting the tone for April.

2. Bangkok Photo Exhibition: Showcasing international photography from GuruShots

The photography platform GuruShots will be hosting an exhibition that showcases some of the best photos from its users. 

GuruShot’s Bangkok Photo Exhibition is perfect for people who are either looking to view some fantastic photographs from around the world or to get a fresh perspective on how other photographers are capturing breathtaking moments. 

The event by GuruShots will take place from 4-9 April 2023 at the Bangkok Art & Culture Centre, near the National Stadium BTS station. The opening reception will be on 6 April 2023 from 6pm-8pm.

3. How To Make Thai Scented Water Workshop: Making scented water for Songkran celebrations

Thai-style scented water, called Nam Ob (น้ำอบ), is a vital part of many Thai ceremonies. It is typically used to cleanse devotees’ hands to rid them of bad karma. 

For those interested in how this scented water is traditionally made, the Kru Thung Non Foundation is organizing a workshop that will teach you how to make Thai scented water

If you’re interested, you can register for their workshop here. There is a registration fee of ฿2,000 (~USD60). The fee is to be paid to “บัญชีมูลนิธิครูถุงนอน” at Krung Thai Bank account number 162-0-36733-5. Once paid, registrants will have to email a copy of the receipt to [email protected].

4. Babe Fest: A festival for beef and craft beer lovers

Despite challenges to local microbreweries that have forced production outside national borders, the few craft breweries that brave the challenges produce delicious beer. For those interested in tasting some of that craft beer along with delicious beef, Babe Fest is a food festival that will feature 40 restaurants specializing in beef along with 30 craft beer brands. 

The festival will also feature live music from popular Thai artists Violette Wautier, Rosalyn, Numcha, and Yokee Playboy.

Tickets are ฿200 (~USD6) for one-day tickets or ฿500 (~USD15) for all three days.

5. Easter Adventure: Family fun at K-Village including painting and games for kids

Families looking to celebrate Easter in Thailand can visit K-Village’s Easter Adventure.

The event will be perfect for kids with various Easter-themed games along with painting activities. Kids will be busy searching for eggs and rabbits in the “Mystery Egg Hunt in the Cave” and “Catch a Rabbit” games.

You can also improve your painting skills in their face-painting and egg painting workshops run by local art shop Thaymhee.

6. SIAM Songkran Music Festival: EDM party during Songkran

Songkran has become synonymous with a festival of fun in modern Thailand. For EDM fans or those who just want to dance the night away, the SIAM Songkran Music Festival is for you. 

The music festival will last 4 days with world-renowned EDM artists such as Afrojack, Hardwell, and Headhunterz. 

Tickets for the SIAM Songkran Music Festival are ฿2,100 (~USD62) for one-day (฿1,900 (~USD56) for 16 April) or ฿4,600 (~USD134) for a 3-day pass for 12-14 April. You must also be over 20 years old to attend.

7. Waterbomb Bangkok: Music concert and water fight 2-in-1

The famous South Korean water-themed music festival Waterbomb will be making its way to Bangkok this Songkran. 

Waterbomb Bangkok will feature popular K-hip hop and K-pop artists, as well as EDM artists.

The festival will have both artists and audience members split into either green or silver teams, and have a huge water fight. 

Tickets are ฿4,600 (~USD134) for one day and ฿8,200 (~USD239) for both.

8. Mad Face Food Week: Celebrating street food from around the world

Thai street food is among the best in the world. If you haven’t had enough of it, the annual food fair Mad Face Food Week will take place at the end of April. 

This year, their theme is street food and will feature street food from all over the world, including burgers, pizzas, kebabs, and more. 

There is an entry fee of ฿150 (~USD5) which includes a free drink. Entry is free for children under 13. 

The festival is also pet-friendly, and parking is available.

9. Riverfront Recycle Fest: eco-friendly festival with live music, upcycled art, and an eco-market

For people who are looking to reduce their carbon footprint, the Riverfront Recycle Fest can help you do just that. 

The festival is organized by the Bangkok Recycling Chain in collaboration with Salil Journey Riverside Hotel. 

At the festival, you can shop for eco-friendly products at their market, swap clothes to add more variety to your wardrobe by trading away those forgotten pieces, and more.
