On 21st October 2022, a Thai uncle, who works as a taxi motorcycle rider, had reportedly stashed money away from his wife in a sack for years. On this fateful day, he carried it to a gold shop to purchase jewellery and accessories worth ฿190,000 (~USD4,990) to surprise his wife.

The uncle shared that he had started saving his money since 20 years ago. Due to his low income as a taxi driver, he would only buy essential stuff and tried not to squander his hard-earned savings away. He also had to hide money in different spots around the house so that his wife wouldn’t know.

On 20th October, the uncle took his wife to a gold shop and let her choose accessories that caught her eye. However, after the purchase, the wife refused to have them and let the uncle keep the accessories he bought instead, according to Khaosod.
