Thai orchestra band won victory in South Korea


There’s a popular saying in Thailand that goes, “คนไทยถ้าลองตั้งใจทำอะไร เก่งไม่แพ้ชาติใดในโลก”, which means “if Thais set their minds to something, they excel on par with any nationality in the world. We really find this saying isn’t beyond the truth, as we hear exciting news about Thai people winning national competitions all the time.

Here’s another victory that brings pride to our nation. A Thai orchestra band reportedly won a gold medal in a wind orchestra competition in South Korea. Here’s the scoop:


Thai orchestra band secures a gold medal in the Modern Concert Band category

Reportedly, a wind orchestra band from Nakhon Ratchasima College of Dramatic Arts achieved a gold medal in the Modern Concert Band category at a wind orchestra competition held at Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival 2023 in Jeju, South Korea.

The principal of the college stated the band’s victory has brought pride to the college. He consistently devoted his efforts to teaching Western music, leading to the college’s military band and orchestra band earning numerous championships in various domestic and international events.

The Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival 2023 drew in more than 40 bands from various countries like Japan, Germany, Taiwan, and France. Amidst this global lineup, the Thai band stood out, clinching the highest honour – the High Gold Level award. They wowed the audience with their performances of “Deep Impression” by Vanich Potavanich and “Music of the Spheres” by Philip Sparke.
