Priority lanes at check out

During the COVID-19 outbreak, we’ve witnessed ‘panic buying’ throughout the globe. The saddest part is that this leaves nothing but empty shelves for slower shoppers like the elderly and disabled people, which is disheartening to see.

In response to this not-too-good trend, Tesco Lotus has opened up priority lanes at their checkouts for folks who are older than 60, disabled people, health workers, and pregnant women.
This way, they can conveniently pay for their groceries without having to wait too long in a queue.

This priority lane has been in use since 30th March at every Tesco Lotus supermarket across the country. There has been no mention of when this will be until.
Besides the priority lane, some Tesco Lotus outlets also have ‘priority hours’, which allows the above-mentioned group of people to shop in peace during the early weekday mornings from 8am to 9 am.
It is great that Tesco is taking action on this problem and looking after its customers. As for panic buying – which could be punishable under Thailand’s emergency decree – stay calm and shop as per normal so there’s enough for everybody.
