Kuay Tiew Chomyut spicy meatballs
It’s no secret that Thai food is famous for its hot and spicy taste, which is the reason locals find it so delicious. If you’re a spice lover, Kuay Tiew Chomyut is a street food stall with a very special dish you can’t miss.
Sauce made with over 1,000 roasted chillies
Grilled meatballs on skewers can be found anywhere in Bangkok, but travelling especially to Kuay Tiew Chomyut is worth it. At ฿10/skewer, you can get meatballs made from pork, pork tendons, and beef.
What makes the store special is their spicy dipping sauce which is made from over 1,000 roasted chillies. Roasted chillies are also known to be spicier than fresh ones, so make sure you’re up for it before trying!
As we downed our skewers, the chillies left a burning sensation in our mouths – that didn’t stop us from wiping our plates clean though. The chillies still have a subtle sweetness to them and complemented the taste of the meatballs well.
The meat was nice and tender and didn’t feel as flour-stuffed as some meatballs tend to be.
Visit early before it’s all sold out
Kuay Tiew Chomyut is a hit with locals, so we recommend visiting the place early to avoid a long queue – before 8pm is good.
The shop also serves different noodle dishes like tom yum noodles and pink noodles at a fair price, starting at ฿40 (~USD1.20).
Look out for The Paseo Park Kanchanapisek and PTT Gas Station along Phutthamonthon Sai 2 Road and you will find the store located at the roadside. Or else, just look out for a crowd and you’ll find where it is!
For anyone who thinks they’re a spice king or queen, make sure you challenge your tastebuds with these chilli meatballs.
