Go whitewater rafting in Prachinburi

Whitewater rafting is the outdoor activity of choice for many Thais, when they hit up nature spots like waterfalls or forests with streams. While not all nature reserves offer this particular sport, you can be sure that you’re not gonna miss it here in Kang Hin Poeng.

Situated in Prachinburi, Kang Hin Poeng is under Khao Yai National Park’s supervision as it borders the site. Due to its 4.5 km-long waterway, it’ll take you up to 2 hours to try out the rapids, or navigate through other bodies of water. Expect a rather thrilling ride, however, as the rapids will provide a rush of currents under your boats.

Before you reach the waterway, you will need to trek through a forested trail. Usually, there’ll be a person guiding you through, so it should be pretty chill. During the walk, take your time to admire the greenery – and occasional forest critter – along the way.

After trying out rafting, do set aside time to check out the waterfall that’s located nearby. This waterfall, though, is unlike others where you’d expect to see water falling from a precipice – it’s more like a wide cascade down instead. As long as your visit isn’t during the rainy season, the currents will also not be too strong.

Now, let’s take a look at the prices. To go whitewater rafting at Kang Hin Poeng, expect to fork out about ฿500 (~USD13)/person. But if you come as a group of six to eight people, consider renting a boat from ฿3,500 (~USD75)/boat. Please note that the prices may differ depending on the seasons, so you’re encouraged to contact the provider for more detailed info.

Lovely purple flower fields to admire

Phu Soi Dao might be the first place that comes to our mind when it comes to admiring Murdannia Giganteum flowers or ดอกหงอนนาค in Thai. That said, the location is pretty far for residents in Bangkok like us as it’s located up north. Thankfully, Kang Hin Poeng offers a pretty similar experience, so you can still admire these delicate blooms, closer to the city.

Not far from Kang Hin Poeng Riverside, lies Sasukpha Resort which boasts a large field of flowers open to visitors for a nominal fee of ฿20 (~USD0.50)/person. If you’re looking for a K-drama worthy moment or IG photo op, this is a def going to be a stop you can’t miss in Prachinburi.

Whether it’s a thrilling ride down the rapids for that adrenaline rush, or a chill trek in nature, we think it’ll be good to spend some time alone to declutter your thoughts as we prep for the new year ahead.
