67 year-old blind man sells desserts at temple
The world may be a difficult place to live in sometimes, but a glimpse of hope from people’s stories like this one can be a reminder of the positivity around us.
This blind man was spotted selling bamboo sticky rice desserts at Khao Ta Krao Temple in Phetchaburi Province. His name is Yom Homhuan, who is 67 years old. This grandpa uses a megaphone to invite people to buy his desserts, which are stacked in a crate on his old bicycle.
Translation: “Please buy Khao Lam (bamboo sticky rice). I’m blind. Thanks for buying. – Ta (grandpa) Yom.”

Every Friday, Grandpa Yom orders bamboo sticky rice from people in his village to sell. He also hitches a ride from a truck driver to take him and his bicycle to the temple.

Though he’s visually impaired, Grandpa Yom has to earn money to take care of his 98-year-old wife who has diabetes and high blood pressure. He also shared that because they’re childless, they only have each other for support.
He got into an accident at a young age where he got kicked by an ox, resulting in him going blind.
Shares his sticky rice with others who need it too
A villager who knows Grandpa Yom shared that he is a very kind man. When the weekend is over and he still has some bamboo sticky rice left, he would share some with monkeys nearby since the temple is situated near their habitat.
Grandpa Yom often gives out his desserts to people whenever there are public events in the village too.
