Browsing through the shelves of bookstores and lovingly curating a diverse collection in one’s own personal space undoubtedly brings joy to bookworms. Therefore, it’s no wonder that excitement flares up when a book fair arises in the city.

If you’re a book lover, check this out. Doulos Hope is a book fair with numerous English books taking place on a large ship in Bangkok. The ongoing event lasts until 26 November 2023, so take this opportunity to explore the books and find the ones you love.

The event offers 8 rounds of visits per day from Tuesdays to Sundays, starting from 2pm to 9pm. To visit, you have to register on its website here. After registering, you’ll get a ticket via email.

Many staff members are also provided on the ship to help you with questions. They are very friendly and welcoming, and you can ask them if you’re looking for any specific type of books. Most of them speak English, but a few might be able to communicate in Thai.

You’ll find a diverse range of interesting books, from history to inspirational choices. Prices vary, depending on units. Say you’re buying a book with 100 units, it costs ฿80 (~USD2.21), which we find cheap for English books.

Apart from books, they also have a mini cafe that serves drinks and snacks to munch along while enjoying the view on the ship.

The admission fee is ฿30 (~USD0.83) per adult, while children under 12 and seniors over 65 can enter for free. Cash is the only accepted payment method at the entrance, where you’ll need to present the ticket sent to your email to the staff.
