Living in Bangkok with nightmarish traffic, we have no choice but to depend on public transit, such as underground trains and sky trains, to avoid wasting our precious time on the street.

So, any unfortunate incidents taking place on public transit can certainly cause concerns among regular commuters as we depend on it on a daily basis and expect high safety since it involves a lot of people’s lives.

Let this situation make you more cautious when using public transit. A BTS Skytrain in Bangkok had left one of its doors open while running to the next station, shocking many commuters on the train.

Recently, a TikTok video of a BTS Skytrain running with one of its doors open went viral online, with over 2 million views and many users expressing safety concerns.

The train was said to be running from Bang Chak Station and one of its doors wouldn’t close. As shown in the video, a BTS employee had notified the train operator while observing the situation before the train arrived at Punnavithi Station.

The end of the video shows the door had been fixed, which led to the suspension of service, and an out-of-service sign was attached to it. Luckily, no one was reportedly injured in this accident.

BTS publicly apologised following this incident and ensured they would address the issue and prioritise all passengers’ safety.

Hope they’ll take passengers’ safety more seriously


This is a reminder that we should take serious caution when boarding the train, especially during rush hour. Imagine if the train was packed and this malfunction happened, it could be worse. However, we’re glad this incident ended with no casualties.
