BTS could implement more COVID-19 measures
Airy outdoor areas have said to be safer places during the spread of COVID-19. However, people cannot always avoid being in closed or crowded areas, especially when commuting to work by train.
So, the Department of Disease Control of Thailand suggested BTS sky train services to operate with open windows.
COVID-19 can be transmitted over long distances
On 27th May 2020, Tanarak Plipat, deputy director-general of the Disease Control Department, disclosed that a patient who had tested positive almost 14 days after their self-quarantine period.
He pointed out that there could be patients who carry the virus without showing any symptoms. Moreover, it has been proven that the virus can travel over distances as much as 4.5m in an enclosed areas like buses or trains.
He added that BTS should service with open windows to decrease any opportunities of transmission between commuters. While this does raise questions of how to go about taking on this new measure in a safe manner, BTS has yet to provide official updates on any new procedures. The train service currently ensures the safety of passengers by offering hand sanitisers and encouraging passengers to wear face masks.
