Alcohol Sales To Pause At Restaurants And Bars In BKK & 4 Provinces, Venues To Close at 9PM

Potentially no alcohol in BKK bars

With Songkran holidays approaching, citizens in the Kingdom of Thailand have been gearing up to celebrate the country’s ‘New Year’.

Unfortunately, an extra long weekend isn’t the only thing quickly approaching – there has been a cluster case linked to entertainment venues in the country this month.

Venues to close at 9 PM

On 5th April 2021, the National News Bureau of Thailand announced that the Director-General of the Department of Disease Control, Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, will propose that “restaurants, bars and nightclubs” in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathumthani, Nakhon Pathom and Samut Prakarn close at 9 PM and that alcohol sales be put on a temporary halt on their facebook page.

The post also stipulated that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is considering allocating vaccines for employees of night-time entertainment venues, as well as residents within the area.

Decisions are said to be finalised tomorrow.

Party smart

It seems that Thailand’s residents have gone through the opening and closing of bars multiple times over the past year. With Covid-19 rocking the world, it seems that we will have to go through many sets of regulations and lifestyles – regardless, it’s important we continue to uphold hygiene protocols to prevent the spread of this and any other virus.
