A small group will arrive first

Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin, a spokesman for the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), said that the plan is to gradually allow bigger groups of tourists back into the country, with some groups arriving before others.

The business people group will be the first ones to be considered due to the Alternative State Quarantine programme, which will accommodate them during the 14-day quarantine in selected hotels.

According to Nation Thailand, the following groups will be able to enter the country in July:

  • 700 businesspeople and investors
  • 15,400 skilled workers
  • 2,000 expats with Thai families and residence
  • 2,000 students and teachers
  • 30,000 medical wellness tourist

50,000 foreigners are expected to arrive next week, the majority of which will be on “medical and wellness tourism”, reported Bangkok Post. Those entering will still be required to have proper medical documents and will be tested and tracked for the coronavirus.

Others to arrive at a later date

Other groups such as tourists are expected to follow in August under the “travel bubble” plan. This group will be able to move between paired COVID-free countries with ease, but not outside the approved areas.
