Face masks in Phuket

As COVID-19 cases in Thailand’s resort island Phuket surge, the province’s governor Phakkhaphong Thawiphat ordered all residents and visitors in the province to always wear a face mask when out in public areas.
Those who fail to comply with this measure will face a fine up of to ฿20,000 according to Section 51 of the 2015 Communicable Diseases Act and the emergency decree that is currently in effect.
The order was implemented from 7th April 2020 until further notice.

French visitor arrested for breaking the rule

On 8th April, a 27-year-old French visitor was reportedly detained by police in Patong area after he was caught outside without wearing a mask.
The police took the man to Patong Police Station and charged him with violating the newly launched measure – he was one of the very first cases to break this rule.
Help prevent further transmissions and wear a mask whenever you need to step outside of the house, no matter where you are.
