Several measures have been declared in light of the rising numbers of COVID-19 infections in Thailand. Other than that, the state and public themselves have stepped up to help give support to one another during this time.

Wacoal, an underwear and lingerie manufacturer, has since transformed their underwear factory in order to produce face masks for people in Thailand – for free!

Wacoal has temporarily stopped all underwear production for now and is working on producing face masks instead.

The face masks are produced from the quality fabric used in Wacoal products, including microfiber Nylon textile and Spandex. The masks have also passed the Air Permeability Test from the Thailand Textile Institute, confirming to be able tol to prevent PM2.5 air pollution and virus particles.

Moreover, the face mask is washable and can be reused, which decreases the amount of waste produced.

The first phase of the face mask production was delegated to Wacoal staff as follows; 5,000 pieces and various institutions in Thailand including 1,000 pieces for the Thai Red Cross Society’s National Blood Centre and 3,000 pieces for Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

Wacoal also gave over 1,500 cotton face masks to neighbours living in the area around the company too.

The company aims to produce 52,000 face masks to give to people for free.

Aside from medical workers and state officers who work hard to cope with the problem, there are many people and organisations willing to help and provide support as best as they can.

The least we can do is to follow the necessary safety measures and take care of ourselves.
