Chonburi’s Open Zoo is live-streaming its animals

In response to the indefinite closure of zoos throughout Thailand since March 17, Chonburi’s Khao Kheow Open Zoo decided to bring their zoo animals to viewers at home.
Virtual zoo tours from home
The Zoological Park Organization of Thailand (ZPO), together with the Bureau of Conversation and Research, will keep the zoo virtually open to the public in order to educate and entertain (edutain) viewers at home.
Episodes include animals such as tigers, antelopes and sun bears, just to name a few.
Educating the public
Visitors can watch the zoo animals go on about their day while the zoo staff, joined by veterinarians, narrate about the animal’s habits and facts. Questions and answers from viewers will be answered throughout the livestream.
According to Khaosod, ZPO’s acting director Suriya Saengpong calls this an opportunity to let the zoo animals roam around outside their exhibits, but also a great time to renovate the zoo in anticipation of reopening once the pandemic passes.
More episodes to come
So far, there are five episodes of ZOO AT HOME. According to the start of each episode, there will be a new episode every Tuesday and Friday at half past noon, so be sure to tune in.
The ZPO Thailand Facebook will livestream a new episode every Tuesday and Friday at half past noon from Chonburi’s Khao Kheow Open Zoo, so be sure to tune in.
Gibbons and tigers and bears, oh my!
