Vijitr: Thai light & sound show taking place in late May

If you’re looking to take some time off from the Bangkok heat, the Tourism Authority of Thailand will be organizing multiple light shows, called Vijitr, throughout the country. The shows will take you to a few interesting landmarks in each region as well as highlight the unique culture there.

Here are the dates and the quality you can expect from the show.

The Mekong in Nakhon Phanom & Lanna culture in Chiang Rai

If you’re interested in heading northward, the Vijitr shows in the northern and northeastern regions will take place in Chiang Rai and Nakhon Phanom, respectively.

Wiang of Light is the name of the show that will take place in Chiang Rai. Wiang refers to a walled city, typically from the era of the kingdom of Lanna. The show will take place from the 20th-28th of May. Wiang of Light will highlight the major landmarks of Thailand’s northernmost city which is filled with the Lanna charm.

On the other hand, the show in Nakhon Phanom in the northeast will feature light mapping along the Mekong River. The lights reflected on the water’s surface are sure to be a pretty sight. The show will take place from 27th May til 4th June.

In eastern Thailand, Vijitr will take place in Rayong. The show will be on from 27th May til 4th June in the Mangrove Forest Learning Center. It will feature projection mapping onto an island, light displays along the boardwalk, as well as musical performances.

Finally in southern Thailand, Vijitr will be in Nakhon Si Thammarat from 20th-28th May. This show will focus on the city’s history. The show will you on a city tour to see the various light installations around key landmarks as well as their stories.
