Things To Do In Bangkok In November 2023 Including A Film Fest, A Lonely Exhibition, & Light Show

Things To Do In Bangkok In November

There are no national holidays in November for Thailand, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun. To get over this little hump of a month before end-of-year celebrations come, we’ve compiled a list of things to do in Bangkok in November.

Here are 7 things you can add to your calendar so your no-holiday November is more memorable.

1. LonelyPop: Lonely Together Exhibition – cute pop art exhibit to check out between work

If you’re a digital nomad, then you’ve no doubt been to the working space True Digital Park. Right now, there’s a cute pop art exhibit that’s perfect for a quick refreshing break between work sessions.

Without national holidays, weekends in November are at a premium. So if you’re looking for ways to have fun for the whole family, then you’ll want to go to St. Andrews International School’s Fun Day 2023

The fair turns their Dusit Campus into a small, impromptu amusement park with tons of rides like bumper cars, bouncy castles, and euro bungies.

Time: 9am-4pm

3. Bangkok Theatre Festival – check out Thai performance artists

Movies are great but sometimes, nothing beats the experience of an actor performing live unfiltered in front of you. The Bangkok Theatre Festival will have tons of performances each weekend in November that’ll be a little dash of something different.

Their primary venue is the Bangkok Art & Culture Centre in the heart of Bangkok as well as multiple other venues. To see their full schedule, click here. For English-friendly performances, click here.

Date: 4-5, 11-12, 18-19 November 2023
Price: Depends on performance

4. Bangkok Literature Festival – find your next book fix here

If you’re an introvert like me, then you will no doubt spend countless hours consuming stories this month. However, it’ll do us both good to get out there and talk to other people who also spend way too much time living inside their heads, so that we can share a meaningful conversation about the things we love and get a fresh perspective on them.

That’s why the Bangkok Literature Festival is on my list of things to do this month. This festival is put on by the famous private English library Neilson Hays Library. There’ll be plenty of workshops, poetry readings, book signings, and Q&A sessions with local and international authors.

This is where I’ll get my fix of books and stories for November. Check out their full program here to know where you want to be across their multiple venues.

Date: 4-5 November 2023
Time: 9am-4pm
Price: Free entry
Location: Neilson Hays Library, 195 Surawong Road, Suriya Wong, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500 | Event page | Google Maps

Even as a Thai person, I wouldn’t know where to watch a traditional Thai dance performance. So when I heard that the students from Chulalongkorn University’s Thai Classical Dance and Drama Club are going to perform, I had to find out more.

The Life Story of Manorah (มโนราห์) will be a traditional dance from Thailand’s south that has been recognized by UNESCO on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

You can register and watch for free here (in Thai).

What’s better than a free movie? How about 18 movies from 17 different EU countries.

The European Union Film Festival 2023 is a free film festival by the The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Thailand in collaboration with House Samyan. The festival’s theme is “Bridging Cultures” and there are few better ways to get an understanding of another culture than through the stories they tell and love.

Here are some ground rules for the screenings:

You’ll have to reserve your tickets at least two days in advance and collect your tickets before the show, starting 1 hour before screening and ending 20 minutes prior to screening.

Each person is allowed only 5 screenings and 2 tickets per screening.

I’m a fan of the older districts of Bangkok where you can experience the city’s historical charm. But Awakening Bangkok will shed a new light on these places.

The annual festival is an exhibition over an area of the city. Local artists will transform local landmarks with colourful light installations for people to marvel at. They’ll also make awesome additions to your Instagram.

This year, the exhibition will take place in an area between Phra Nakhon-Pak Klong Talad. You can keep up with the details as they are revealed here

Date: 24 November – 3 December 2023
Price: Free
Location: Multiple venues between Phra Nakhon-Pak Klong Talad | Event page

Respite in no holiday November

It’s only one month away from holiday-filled December. So hang on just a couple of weeks until we get a bunch of long weekends and cooler weather.

If you’re traveling in Thailand this month, check out the Naga Festival along the Mekong River with our guide here. But if you’re still fixing for a horror movie after Halloween, we have you covered with this guide to Thai horror movies on Netflix.
