We are now in an era of cafe hopping culture, and photogenic cafes often end up on our must-visit list during almost every trip. In Thailand, there are tons of cafes popping up almost everywhere, not only in Bangkok, but also in other provinces.
But there’s not much to do at cafes other than snapping photos and eating brunch, right? Well, not at The Fairy Door in Bangkok. This cafe doesn’t just come with a pretty fantasy theme – it’s actually a cat cafe where you can play with some furry kitties too!

Ambience at The Fairy Door
The little wooden door into the cafe
Those that frequent the Sukhumvit area might be familiar with Rain Hill Plaza at Sukhumvit Soi 47, which houses a variety of indoor and outdoor eateries. This includes The Fairy Door which resides on the 3rd floor.
You’ll know you’re here when you see the cafe’s entrance that is decorated by climbers and flowers – these hide a magical world within.
We felt like characters from Alice in Wonderland and rushed into a little wooden door that led us through a “burrow”. This is the entrance to the actual cafe area itself, which is decorated with lots of flowers, colourful velvet seats, and fantasy props.
And of course, the main stars of the shows were the cats. There are over 6 adorable kitties that will be walking around for you to play with – just like the Cheshire Cat.
The kitties here are very photogenic too
The cafe offers afternoon tea sets in a garden setting. The flower vines that were hanging from the ceiling made us feel like we were outdoors too.
The plush seats feel like thrones – don’t forget to take a princess/prince shot here
Speaking of feeling like Alice, we got to take some quirky photos with the props here. This giant mushroom is an IG-spot that will make you feel tiny, as if you’ve taken a shrinking “Drink Me” potion.
We recommend dressing up to take some pretty photos here. The Fairy Door’s whimsical ambience surely brought our children dreams to life.
What to order
We got a table near the little cat house
There are plenty of choices ranging from savoury to sweet dishes and drinks. Savoury options include appetisers like French Fries (฿150) and Calamari ฿220(~USD7) and more filling dishes like Spaghetti Carbonara ฿220 (~USD7) and Thai Beef Stew ฿190(~USD6).
If you’re a sweet-tooth, get Alice’s Tea Time Set ฿1,270(~USD38). This comes with tea, scones, and other baked pastries served in a high-tea set that you can share with a friend.
You can also opt for a smaller Tea With Cake Set ฿400 (~USD12) to get a pot of hot tea together with cake. Just select one of their signature flavours: Millefeuille, Volute Chocolate, Venus Strawberry, and Feuille d’ Automne.
We went for the Volute Chocolate. This is a chocolate mousse cake that comes with a soft and chewy filling. It has a rich chocolatey flavour and even has crumbles hidden within, which adds a crunchy texture to each bite.
For the tea, there is a testing set for customers to pick their favourite flavour. The most popular one is the Wild Wild Flower tea. It has a fragrant flowery scent which complemented the cake nicely.
Another must-order is the Hot Chocolate ฿165 (~USD5). You’ll get a cup of fluffy cotton candy and a glass of hot chocolate on the side to pour over. Once everything is melted together, it’s time to drink.
Although there is cotton candy in the mix, it was not too sweet – dark chocolate fans will like this.
We kept playing with the cats that were roaming around between our meal
For a la carte orders, here’s the price breakdown:
- Tea: from ฿150 (~USD4.50)
- Food: from ฿150 (~USD4.50)
- Desserts: from ฿165 (~USD5)
Note: The cafe one order per customer.
Enjoy tea time in Wonderland at The Fairy Door
This kitty accompanied us as we enjoyed our food
Whether you are a cat lover or just want to visit a cool new cafe, The Fairy Door is a definitely place you should visit. Cat-holics can reserve a table beside the cat castle for maximum exposure to these furry friends. We got to see them going in and out of it – some were even napping on their cute little beds inside. Aww.
Another interesting thing about the cafe is that it transforms into a bar at night and is open till 1AM, making it a great late-night hangout. So don’t forget to dress up and enjoy this Wonderland right in the heart of Bangkok!
