Unlimited WiFi for Thai students in public schools
The “third wave” of Covid-19 has brought educational institutions to a halt, with the national school reopening date postponed from 17th May to 1st June.
As a result, classes will have be to be transferred to online platforms instead.
In an effort to help, public schools across the country will receive unlimited access to high-speed internet, announced Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaiwut Thanakhamanusorn.

Thai govt schools to give lectures without “freezing”
To ensure high quality lectures and seminars, Thai government schools nationwide will receive fibre-optic high speed broadband from major telecommunication providers like True and AIS following an initiative by Digital Economy and Society and the Education Ministry, according to The Thaiger.
Students in Thailand have been going back and forth between physical and digital classes, and are now returning to the latter once again.

While on-site lessons are still an option, they will be conducted under strict guidelines and go in line with on-air learning methods such as TV broadcasts, added Mr. Thanakhamanusorn.
“Teachers Ready” online platform launched by the Education Ministry

An online platform – www.ครูพร้อม.com translated to “Teachers Ready” in English – has also been created to respond to the high demands of educational materials and textbooks. Teachers and students can find various resources like e-books under six categories: Wanna Learn, Wanna Know, Wanna Teach, Wanna Do, Wanna Watch, and Wanna Share via the website.
The “Teachers Ready” website, however, will be an alternative learning source and is not required for educational institutions.
Students will take their admission exams for Mathayom 1 and 4 – Years 8 and 11 – on 22nd to 23rd May; and all students, teachers, and parents will have to follow a set of rules including sanitation instructions and an exam times restricted to 9AM-12PM.
Working together towards the new normal
With Thailand currently facing many changes brought upon by the pandemic, it’s important that we work together as a society to adapt to this new normal to ensure our quality of life. Sitting through online lectures with zero interruptions is definitely one step towards achieving this.
