Young Thai girl turns pageant into dance contest
Beauty pageants where girls compete to be crowned “Miss Noppamas” on Loy Krathong are part of our culture. But one young Thai girl couldn’t be contained when the music kicked in, turning the pageant into a dance contest.
Here’s how her friends tried in vain to get her to sit down, and the viral reaction the girl got.

Loy Krathong pageant turns into viral dance-off
During Loy Krathong, girls will compete for the “Miss Noppamas” crown. The crown is named after the Sukhothai period concubine who allegedly was the originator of the Loy Krathong tradition.
But this one particular contest had a special young lady in attendance. The audience at the contest in Nong Suea subdistrict got a memorable impromptu performance from a girl who simply could not be contained.

Her two friends try their best to get her to behave as the pageant got under way. But our star was having none of that as she repeatedly got up to dance to the beat.

She did have a chance to put on a performance for the crowd later, but her biggest spotlight was yet to come.
Netizens amused by the girl’s power moves
When clips of the young star were uploaded onto TikTok, the clip went instantly viral to the tune of 15 million views within one day.

What’s for sure is that netizens really enjoyed the fact that she was having the time of her life.

We don’t know for sure if the young girl won the contest or not. But she did win the hearts of Thai netizens.
