Armed Forces Ordered To Set Up 24H Checkpoints Between Provinces Following Emergency Decree

Under the Thai government’s emergency decree that was announced amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the Ministry of Interior has issued an order for authorities to set up checkpoints along the main inter-provincial roads to monitor travellers. 

According to the official letter, the order officially came into effect on 12.01am on 26th March 2020. The measure is believed to be implemented until the emergency decree is over on 30th April 2020.


No travel ban between provinces

As of now, there’s no talk of a domestic travel ban or a curfew. However, we have to stay tuned as the government can announce more measures anytime if necessary. 

Although there’s no ban on travelling between the provinces, it is highly advisable not to do so during this time. This way, we can minimise the risk of spreading the virus if anyone has it unknowingly.

During this time, please stay where you are and avoid travelling for your own safety and that of others’.
