You Can Now Celebrate Loy Kratong Online With E-Offerings For Those Who Want To Be Eco Friendly

Online Loy Kratong festival

Loy Kratong Festival this year will be happening on 31st October 2020. Almost every Thai temple and even venues all over the world will be hosting festivities allowing people to celebrate and pray to the goddess of water, Phra Mae Khongkha.

Don’t be sad if you are not in Thailand to join in the fun for now, you can still celebrate this festival online!

Float your offerings on online rivers

People will float kratong, offerings made up of banana leaf containers decorated with flowers, incense sticks and candles, onto rivers to thank the goddess of water or apologise for making rivers or canals dirty with litter.

Ironically, kratongs themselves become trash after the festival is over, making many rivers polluted. So, the idea of an online Loy Kratong Festival was born in order to decrease water pollution.

Besides for the environmental concerns, this online event also allows people to take part in the festival from wherever you are – perfect for Thais who are stuck abroad due to the pandemic.

You can participate online via Sanook. On the homepage is a floating kratong so you’ll know you’re on the right site – and you can actually craft one by yourself!
