Le Boulanger Is A Bangkok Bakery With An All-You-Can-Eat Cake Buffet For Just $10

Affordable cake buffet at Le Boulanger

When we think of buffets at restaurants, dishes like shabu hot pot and mookata often come to mind. But at Le Boulanger bakery, you’ll be treated to an array of cakes and pastries specially created for all Bangkokians with a sweet tooth.

For over 20 years, Le Boulanger has been calling Bangkok Hotel Lotus’ swanky lobby its home. This bakery is where customers can enjoy a pleasant afternoon enjoying their cakes and desserts for a pocket-friendly price of just ฿333 (~USD10-11).

If you come in a group of 4, you’ll only pay for the price of 3 people on Mondays. Also, you can stay for as long as you’d like during their buffet hours from 12pm-4pm daily.

What to try at Le Boulanger

With over 20 pastries and cakes for us to try, we were spoiled for choice. But don’t miss out on the bakery’s signature cakes: Midnight Chocolate Cake and Gourmet Blueberry Cheesecake.

The Midnight Chocolate Cake is a dome of rich and dense chocolate mousse within a shell of crusty dark chocolate ganache, garnished with an edible gold leaf.

The mousse is tailored for dark chocolate lovers – it had a strong bitter tone and a sweet aftertaste.

If you prefer something creamy and fruity, the Gourmet Blueberry Cheesecake is a perfect choice.

Although the cake’s crust was a bit thick, the main layer was really soft, dense, and filled with sweet and soft cream cheese. It was well paired with the slightly tangy blueberry topping.

Aside from the house’s signature items, we also had many cakes and pastries that were on rotation to pick from.

The Cream Cheese Roll Foi Thong was another interesting item we tried. It’s a combination of cake and traditional Thai foi thong, which is made from shreds of egg yolk.

The cream cheese that coated the roll was quite thick and heavy, but the roll itself was very spongy and airy. The sweet foi thong brought the flavours together pretty well too.

Another one of our favourites was the Strawberry Trifle. It was a vibrant piece of cake with layers of strawberry jelly atop dense strawberry mousse, vanilla and chocolate sponge cake, and fresh cream.

The strawberry taste from the jelly and mousse was strong in this one, which is perfect for those who love the fruit. Both the sponge cake and cream also added soft and airy textures to the dish.

Drinks are also included in the buffet, so don’t let yourself get thirsty

Head to the drink corner where you can get a variety of fizzy drinks, hot coffee, iced tea and cocoa. We even found a selection of Twinings tea – fancy!

If you’re not ready to hop on the all-you-can-eat ride, you can purchase the cakes individually too.

Spend your afternoon with cakes and friends

The bakery is located in the hotel’s lobby and had a light, open space concept

Le Boulanger is a perfect place to spend some quality time with friends while sipping on some tea and sharing delicious cakes.

After you’re seated, you’re free to look around the cake and pastry shelf, then tell the staff which ones you want to have.

So if you’re looking for a new tea-time spot, head to this bakery to enjoy a cheap yet fancy meal in Bangkok!
