Online Store Sells COVID-19 Plushies And We’re Not Sure How To Feel About It

COVID-19 plush toys

We’re all looking forward to when the whole COVID-19 pandemic is finally over. But when it happened, you might want something to remember this world-stopping virus by – according to this online store at least.

My Science Shop, an online gift and gadget store from the US, just added what appeared to be a chubby reddish-purple microbe with a big pair of eyes to their plush collection and named it “COVID-19”.

It is undeniable that this weird-looking plush toy is a tongue-in-cheek gift, but we can give it a gentle squeeze (or rip it to pieces if you like) during the lockdown to release some stress the real virus has caused.

Clearly, they’re trying to lighten up everyone’s mood with their little plush and we have to admit, it is just wickedly brilliant.

According to WHO, COVID-19 doesn’t only attack our immune system, but also our mental health even though we might not actually have caught it. Why? It’s because of the lack of physical contact with others and the global recession that followed the pandemic.

This squishy buddy is priced at $12.95 (~฿410) on My Science Shop. The shop also sells a mini-size COVID-19 keychain $7.95 (~฿250) in case you want to carry the virus around without actually risking your health and others’.

The good news for my fellow countrymen is that the website is able to ship its product to Thailand, as well as our neighbours like Singapore and Malaysia, despite the ongoing pandemic.

However, you must also pay the additional shipping cost for $9.95 (~฿315).

If you’re not in Thailand, you can check if your country is on the USPS’s delay list by clicking here.

Don’t forget to “spread” this COVID-19 plushie to your loved ones to lighten up their days!
