Thai National Parks Prohibit Alcohol Consumption After Tourists Leave Trash Behind

Thailand bans alcohol in National Parks

After tourists left behind tons of garbage in Khao Yai National Park last week, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Varawut Silpa-archa received another complaint about alleged drunk tourists who caused a disturbance at Namtok Samlan National Park.

Last Friday, the minister made a statement on his Facebook page, suggesting that both actions had negative impacts on natural resources and caused disturbance to other visitors.

As a result, alcohol consumption is now prohibited in all national parks according to the minister’s statement. Those who can’t comply with the rule will be asked to leave immediately.

Both groups of tourists have been reported to the police by national park officials, said the minister.

As for litterbugs, the minister said that anyone who caught littering in the national parks will be banned from coming back. This includes leaving your garbage behind at campsites after your stay.

Visitors must provide personal info

All visitors who want to rent tents or stay over at national park campsites need to provide their identification, address, and phone number so the officials can reach out to them should there be any problems.

Keep it tidy, make everyone happy.
