The white temple, or Wat Rong Khun, is arguably the most famous landmark in Chiang Rai for its exquisite design, which makes it stand out from other traditional temples.

On 16th June 2020, the temple held the reopening ceremony after it was temporarily closed during the peak of the pandemic for a couple of months.

At the ceremony, traditional dancers performed with a majestic view of the temple in the background. Additionally, all lucky visitors also got in for free without having to pay the ฿50 ( ~USD1.50) entry fee that day.

To ensure everyone’s safety, the temple set up a temperature scanning point at the entrance and required all visitors to keep a safe distance and wear masks at all times.

On that day, founder and famous artist Chalermchai Kositpipat greeted all visitors and gave them an exclusive tour around the temple.

Mr Kositpipat revealed that he took the opportunity to give the areas a major uplift during the closure as there were no people around.

If you have a chance, pay the temple a visit and get amazed by its unique design.
