But don’t worry – we’ve found 7 local-approved vegan restaurants in Bangkok that sell tasty food at wallet-friendly prices.


1. Suthanthip Vegan – vegan BBQ pork rice


With “Customers are our Family” as their motto, Suthanthip Vegan is a restaurant that carefully selects each and every ingredient that goes into their food. The store is simple, but you’ll see that it’s bustling with customers on the daily, especially during lunch.

No rabbit food here either. There are various items on the menu ranging from Thai to Chinese cuisines. Their famous dish is the vegan Roasted BBQ “Pork” With Rice (฿50) which looks just like the real deal. They also are known for their BBQ “Pork” Steam Bun (฿22/piece) made from oat flour.

For Thai food, Sunthanthip offers Tom Yum Soup (฿95) with veggie balls and mushrooms.

2. Baan Suan Pai Sukkaparb – cheap food from ฿20

You will feel refreshed as soon as you walk into Baan Suan Pai Sukkaparb, which is adorned with lots of greenery and plants. This place isn’t just an eatery either, but a wellness community centre that comes with music and art classes, a yoga space, healthy product store, and even a Dhamma library for those interested in Buddhism.

The food here starts at a super cheap ฿20. Go for their Vegan Duck Noodles (฿30) that is made from konjac noodles and soy. The vegan meat doesn’t only look like the real deal – it tastes pretty close too.

They also have a huge variety of rice and curry options (from ฿25) which you can takeaway or eat on the spot.

3. Talalask – vegan roast duck and Thai salads

If you think eating vegan food is boring, then Talalask is here to prove you wrong. In fact, their dishes look so similar to actual meat dishes, you might forget then you’re even eating vegan food. This cosy eatery is quite spacious, making it a good space for bigger groups of friends looking for a nice dinner or lunch spot. 

Talalask doesn’t use MSG in their food, and every dish is prepared using rice bran oil that’s high in vitamins and anti-oxidants.

If you’re a vegan that’s always wondered what roast duck tastes like, wonder no more. Try their Beijing Roasted Duck (฿169). The “meat” is really succulent and even comes with crispy skin. It’s served together with bok choy and pickled ginger and goes well with rice.

Another customer-favourite includes their Yum Nam Khao Tod (฿95). This is a Thai-style sour “pork” salad that comes tossed with chilli, nuts, and vegan pork skin. It’s spicy yet refreshing from the lemon juice, making it a nice side dish.

4. All About Mushroom – mushroom-inspired dishes

All About Mushroom is a little home-y restaurant hidden along Sena Nikhom Road. As its name suggests, this is the perfect place for mushroom lovers to fill their tummies.

The must-tries here are the deep-fried snacks like Vegan Nugget (฿79) and Mushroom Karage (฿60) that are fried till crispy and golden. But don’t panic about them being too unhealthy – they’ve got lesser calories compared to their meat counterparts.

For mains, they serve vegan versions of Thai comfort food like Stir-Fried Thai Basil And Crispy Pork (฿60) and Larb Hed (฿60), a spicy mushroom salad. Vegan meat here is mostly made from mushrooms, tofu, or soybean products, so you can trust that it’s all vegan and healthier.  

Cheesecake fans should give a try on their vegan Blueberry Cheesecake (฿109) or Kiwi Cheesecake (฿109) to end your meal on a sweet note.

5. Veggie Chef – vegan chicken tonkatsu

Serving more difficult-to-find vegan food is Veggie Chef, that offers delicious dishes like Shrimp Paste Fried Rice (฿119). They use a homemade shrimp paste made from fermented beans and rice and is served with Thai vegetables, chillies, tofu omelette slices, and “pork” made from soybean protein.

Another must-try is the Curry Rice With Chicken Tonkatsu (฿149) – yup, vegan Japanese curry! And don’t think that the dish is going to be dry and tasteless just because its made from tofu and soy. The tonkatsu is really juicy and it comes with a hearty portion of Japanese curry on the side.

6. Chijuya – vegan sashimi and sushi


If you’re craving for Japanese food, Chijuya is the place to be. Your vegan dishes will never be boring here because they offer delicious vegan Japanese cuisine from rice bowls and ramen to bento sets and even sashimi!

To start, get the Boat Appetizer (Small: ฿300, Large: ฿500). It comes with vegan sashimi made from konjac, mini sushi, wakame salad and pickled ginger.

The stall also has a long list of sushi. The most popular one on the menu is the  Taro Sushi (฿160/10 pieces) which offers different vegetables rolled up in a mashed taro roll. The presentation is on point, so snap some photos while you’re at it.

7. Tonkla Fahsai – organic ingredients from local farmers

Having a meal at Tonkla Fahsai isn’t just good for health – you’ll be helping others too, as the store supports local farmers in Thailand. All their vegetables and ingredients are organic products that have been sourced from local farms. The store also has a small garden to grow their own fresh ingredients.

Their signature dish is the colourful southern Thai Tonkla Fahsai Spicy Rice Salad (฿136). This comes with germinated brown rice and a vibrant array of veggies and herbs, like beetroot, butterfly pea, and sunflower seeds. 

Also try their Miang Kleep Bua (฿285) – lotus leaves wrapped in sweet sauce, containing ingredients like quinoa and pomelo.

Vegan desserts are also available here, like the Steamed Beetroot and Banana Cake (฿45). Tonkla Fahsai carefully regulates the amount of sugar that goes into their food, and instead opt for healthy grains and sesame seeds in their desserts which help increase health benefits.
