Van Driver Forgets Passengers At Gas Station, Only Realises 40km Later

Van driver leaves passengers behind

Imagine being on your way to a holiday destination, hopping off your vehicle for a quick break, only to be forgotten by your driver who’s nowhere to be found. Well, that’s just what happened here.

Thai university student, Mr. Rachanoth, recently shared a funny experience on Twitter about his trip from Bangkok to Pattaya on 7th December 2019.

In his tweet, he revealed that he, along with around 10 other passengers, got in a public van from Eastern Bus Terminal in Ekkamai that was headed to Pattaya city.

The driver, who was around 60 years old, then proceeded to stop at a gas station in Chon Buri after a little over an hour of driving.

As the car was being fueled up, the driver went into the bathroom, which was the same time that the gas station staff told the passengers to leave the vehicle due to their safety policy.

Driver told another van to pick them up

After a long wait, Mr. Rachanoth and other passengers went to check on the van but it was nowhere to be seen. They then rushed to other vans from the same company to contact the driver.

As it turned out, the driver was already 40km away from the station when he realised that he’d forgotten most of his passengers who were seated in the back.

In Mr. Rachanoth’s following tweets, he explained that there were 2 passengers sleeping in the front seats the whole time, which led the driver to believe that all passengers were on board as nobody stopped him.

The driver was quick to tell his fellow staff to pick up all the passengers who were left behind and bring them to him while he stopped and waited for them.

Netizens showed sympathy for the driver

Mr. Rachanoth said he was ready to complain, but the driver’s gentle greeting instantly made him sympathetic. The man was saying, “Come, come to our van.”

It wasn’t just Mr. Rachanoth who felt sorry for the driver, but Thai netizens also showed their sympathy for him while some made light of the situation.

Translation: Please don’t insult him, he’s so kind and hardworking. I take his van all the time.

We love how the netizens showed their compassion rather than complaining about the driver’s innocent mistake – it’s the little things like this that make our society a beautiful one.
