Thai Uni Student Bakes Donuts To Raise Money For Her Family, Hopes To Expand Business One Day

Student sells donuts to help her family

Ploychompoo “Nooker” Deemak is a 22-year-old student who has quietly been working hard for her family. The Srinakharinwirot University student was recently discovered selling donuts in her hometown of Surin province, Thailand.

With goodies like stuffed donuts and sugar-glazed butter donuts, Nooker explained that she got into baking after her mom lost her job in Bangkok years ago. She then returned to Surin and decided to sell baked goods to help support her family.

Nooker has been in the business since she was in elementary school, when her mom used to bake donuts for her to sell at school. She later learnt how to bake by herself, before coming to Bangkok for an undergraduate degree in chemistry.

Every time she gets a semester break at school, Nooker goes back home to help her mother take care of the bakery. She sells donuts to locals and receives positive feedback from them, which has won the hearts of her customers.

After news of her baking talent spread in the neighbourhood, Nooker began receiving orders from a growing pool of customers. She once got a request to bake for a local government agency in the area which was holding a seminar.

She earns roughly ฿300-400 a day from her orders.

Though Nooker will soon be returning to Bangkok for her studies, her mother will carry on baking while she’s away.

Ultimately, Nooker is determined to continue working on her family’s bakery and hopes to make it bigger in the future. We respect the young woman for supporting her family as she’s been doing since she was a child. She also mentioned that, though she doesn’t earn much, she feels really happy and proud for being able to support her family and herself.
