Thief turns into cashier in Thailand
Thailand always has funny shenanigans happening that we can never imagine, like a man sitting cross-legged while riding a motorbike or kids wearing a cooking pot as a helmet on the road.
This is another case that, as unfortunate as it was, we can’t help but laugh at.
Collected payment like a pro
On 1st September 2020 around 1am, a man pretending to be a customer robbed a 7-11 store in Soi Charansanitwong 8 in Bangkok.
CCTV footage showed the thief walking around until there were no other customers in the store, then using a knife to frighten all the workers. The staff fled and hid inside a storage room until the robber went away. He had escaped with around ฿14,000, a pack of cigarettes, and a lighter.
After checking CCTV videos, police officers and the store workers were surprised by the funny footage. The video featured the thief taking out money from the cash register… and also collecting payment from a customer who wanted to buy a can of coffee. Watching the robber fiddle with the machines, the customer had probably mistaken him for a 7-11 staff.

He knew how to open the cash drawer and how to operate the system, and did it calmly like a pro. See how unfazed the customer was when purchasing his coffee? We doubt he even realised that the store was being robbed.
Officers thought that he might have been a 7-11 staff from another branch, thus being experienced enough to know how the system worked.
Finally, the skilful thief was caught at Soi Charansanitwong 25. And they thought right – the 39-year-old robber used to work as a 7-11 staff at a branch near Soi Sahaparb 47. He worked there for only 2 months before getting fired for stealing.
The criminal admitted that he was stressed after being unemployed, and that he was drunk before deciding to go ahead with the robbery.
Netizens shared funny comments under the video
Tons of funny comments rolled in after the footage was shared. Some even focused on the real cashier who was playing a mobile game while working, and joked that between the thief and staff, the former did a better job.
Translation: The owner should provide a bonus for the thief immediately. The one who was only focusing on playing mobile games should be fired.
Translation: The real staff was playing a game, so the thief did the job. Don’t forget to pay him.
Translation: Reduce the penalties. He did good work.
The comments are just for fun, because robbery is still a bad practice anyway.
The customer did seem a little curious about why the “staff” didn’t wear a uniform

It was lucky that no one got hurt. We hope that the burglar will learn a valuable lesson from this incident. As we can see from the video, we believe that you can do better than this and earn money legally.
