Promotions to boost tourism in Thailand
After it was announced that there would be a 50% discount on accommodation to promote tourism in Thailand, the Thai government announced another plan to provide ฿3,000 in handouts to prospective travellers to encourage people to travel and boost the Thai economy.
Cash or vouchers distributed to promote tourism
On 9th June 2020, Mr. Lavaron Sangsnit, the director-general of the Fiscal Policy Office, revealed that the handouts to promote tourism might come in the form of ฿3,000 in cash, vouchers, or discount coupon, Thairath shared.
As reported on Khaosod English, these handouts will be given to tourists above the age of 18, and 10-20% cashback will be offered to tourists who spend more than ฿3,000. It is unclear on other requirements one must have in order to receive this promotion.
This measure aims to encourage people to travel during July to October, which is typically not a popular “travelling season”.

There will be compensation leaves for the Songkran holiday that allow people to travel from July onwards. More details on the handouts will be announced officially at a later date.
With the measures taken to help the industry, we hope that we’ll be able to travel and go on vacations again soon!.
