CAAT Announces Pause On Selected Domestic Flights & New In-Flight Safety Measures

Pause on night flights

In response to the new Covid-19 regulations imposed last Friday, 16th April 2021, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has announced measures to be undertaken by all airports and airlines in Thailand.

Aviation industry to curb spread of Covid-19

On 17th April 2021, CAAT’s Director-General, Sutthipong Kongpool stated that all domestic flights between 11PM and 4AM are to be suspended or limited, according to Khaosod. Since the decision will affect passengers who have previously booked flights during the time, the CAAT also advised airlines to properly inform passengers if any changes were to occur with appropriate compensations.

Both airports and airlines are also required to add restrictions and apply social distancing measures: such as seat blocking and reducing the number of passengers per flight by 30%, as well as to prohibit people with high risk of covid spreading from travelling for the current time being with legal consequences for those who resist, in accordance with the Disease Control Act.

Stay safe at home

It seems that we have to go through another “stay home” period to push this Covid resurgence back down below the graph while staying safe from this deadly virus.
