Approved vaccines for travellers coming to Thailand
Just two days ago, Thailand opened its borders to international travellers from 63 countries.
As the nation seeks to broaden the list of nationalities welcome quarantine-free into the kingdom, they’ve also announced what types of vaccines qualify for a quarantine-free visit.
Here’s a list of approved vaccines by the Thai government.

Vaccines approved by the Thai government
On 3rd November 2021, a list of approved vaccines for quarantine-free entry into Thailand was released by the Department of Consular Affairs, according to The Nation.
On the list are:
- Janssen (Johnson & Johnson)
- Moderna
- AstraZeneca
- CoronaVac (Sinovac)
- Pfizer-BioNTech
- Sputnik V
- Covilo (Sinopharm)
To enter the country, visitors must have received the complete dosage of the above vaccinations. They must also provide proof of complete inoculation that dates back no less than 14 days before landing.
In the event that a traveller has recovered from Covid-19, they can enter into Thailand after receiving one dose of an approved Covid-19 vaccine at least three months after their complete recovery. Similarly, they must provide documents that prove as such.
Waiting period between first and second dose
In addition to communicating the approved vaccinations for quarantine-free travel, the government has also stipulated the different waiting periods between the first and second dose for each vaccine.
The timings are as follows:
- Moderna: 4 weeks between first and second dose
- AstraZeneca: 4 weeks between first and second dose
- CoronaVac (Sinovac): 2 weeks between first and second dose
- Pfizer-BioNTech: 3 weeks between first and second dose
- Sputnik V: 3 weeks between first and second dose
- Covilo (Sinopharm): 3 weeks between first and second dose
While this does not apply to recipients of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, they must still wait at least 14 days before entering Thailand.
Travelling to Thailand is no longer a far-off dream
Over the past two years, the notion of travelling into Thailand without undergoing the mandatory quarantine period seemed to be but something we could hope for.
However, as the recent reopening of the nation to travellers from certain countries show, the process of coming to Thailand will start to look a little more like it did before the current situation.
This gives us hope that the country’s circumstances will continue to recover.
