Thai tries Pfizer vaccine
AstraZeneca – in partnership with Pfizer – is in the final stages of global Covid-19 vaccine trials, placing the company closer to receiving approval for international distribution.
In November 2020, Thailand signed an agreement with the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company, which will allow local production and distribution of the company’s Covid-19 vaccine.

The Standard interviewed Um, a Thai health care worker in England. She received the vaccine on 18th December, and recalls experiencing a mild fever and soreness in her arm after receiving the vaccine.

In England, Covid-19 vaccines are available free of charge. People will receive them in groups according to their risk levels, as listed below:
- First group: Elderly 80+
- Second group: Health officials who aren’t in the frontline
- Third group: 60 – Younger age group
- Children: No shots (No age specification)
Individuals with a history of severe allergic reactions vaccinations will not be given the vaccine.
Safety is a priority
Even though there is news of a vaccine on the horizon, social responsibility is key to mitigating the spread of Covid-19.
While many people are recovering from coronavirus, it’s important to be mindful of those who won’t, especially high-risk groups.
