Government provides nationwide financial aid
There’s a saying that the third time’s a charm. That could be the case with the Thai government’s latest financial aid program Rao Chana, which translates to “We Win” in English. The government announced that this program will provide all Thai citizens with ฿3,500 (~USD116) of financial aid for 2 months.
A remake of ‘Rao-Mai-Ting-Gun’
The financial program is identical to another financial campaign the Thai government rolled out earlier in 2020, Rao-Mai-Ting-Gun, directly translated as “We Won’t Leave Each Other” in English, which provide ฿15,000 (~USD500) financial aid to the people.
However, unlike the 2020 campaign, Rao Chana also includes policies as follow:
- Bill-assist policy: to reduce citizens’ costs by aiding with electricity, water and internet bills.
- Extending the government 50-50 co-payment program allowance to a million people.
- Other cash policies to aid labour classes which will be officially announced after the cabinet’s approval.
The government will announce further information about the campaign once the details are approved by the cabinet. Bangkok Biz News also reported the government suggested that people should use these financial stimulus sustainably.
Thais win. Doctor wins. We win.
This financial aid program is the third government campaign against Covid-19 to contain the word Chana, which means ‘Win’ in Thai. While both of the previous wins are Covid-19 tracking and spreading prevention programs, the third win aims for a financial direction.
Let us hope that this campaign will help those in need and pave ways to an absolute victory against Covid-19.
