Flooded roads in Bangkok
Being situated so close to the equator means that Thailand gets its fair share of sun, humidity and tropical storms; for locals, flooded streets that engulf pavements are seen as ‘normal’.
What isn’t typical, though, is a road construction crew continuing to pour concrete onto a flooded street.

Construction work through a storm
On 21st April 2021, Facebook user, Aipod Munjasunnoi posted a 41-second long clip of a road crew pouring cement onto a flooded road, presumably to improve the pavement’s conditions, in Bangkok.
While the original clip is no longer available, Facebook user, Yak Dung Diew Jud Hai Kim Signature reshared a version of the video. In the clip, you can hear the original videographer expressing marvel and disbelief at the sight; he also questioned the effectiveness of their construction methods.
The video suggests that the crew continued their street renovation all the way down the pavement. Some netizens have suggested that their perseverance to get through the storm is the possibility of being penalised for leaving a task unfinished, reported Sanook.

Just like the original poster of the clip, netizens are offering their in-depth analysis on the construction workers’ actions.

Translation:
My engineer friends told me that there’s concrete that can harden whilst being in the water, especially infrastructure that’s being built in the ocean. But this is the first time I’ve ever witnessed this pouring method too, it could be that the person who hired them had a lot of leftover cement and wanted to pour it away or try out a new method. Let’s see results and perhaps the second episode of this.

Let’s see the next episode, I don’t wanna give any insight yet.
Never judge based on what you see
Even though the netizen felt amused and wanted to film the clip, we should take into consideration that there are certain matters, which we don’t know and jumping to conclusions can lead us to more problems.
